LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz said she and her family are grateful for the support they have been getting since her father Emilio died suddenly Tuesday.

"My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family," Diaz said in a statement issued by her representative, Brad Cafarelli, to People.com. "My dad was loved by so many people, and his humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts."
