'09 Oscar dates announced

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 15 (UPI) -- The 81st Annual Academy Awards are to be presented in Hollywood Feb. 22, 2009, Academy President Sid Ganis announced.

The star-studded Oscars ceremony is to again take place at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.

Nominations are to be announced Jan. 22, 2009 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The nominations announcement has been moved from the traditional Tuesday to a Thursday to avoid a conflict with the 2009 U.S. presidential inauguration, Ganis said.
