Insiders: Swap Couric for Cooper?

NEW YORK, April 12 (UPI) -- Executives at CBS and CNN should swap U.S. newscasters Katie Couric and Anderson Cooper to revive the networks' offerings, some TV insiders say.

A group of TV insiders have suggested the two networks trade two of their more popular newscasters to help revive the "CBS Evening News" and find a future host for "Larry King Live," the New York Daily News reported Saturday.

"Take Katie off the 'Evening News,' let her do 'Larry King' and then let Cooper anchor," an anonymous source said.

Since luring Couric, 51, away from NBC in 2006, CBS has failed to capitalize on the newscaster's popularity and recent reports have the two sides now discussing an end to her contract.

Yet a spokeswoman for CNN said the cable network has no plans to part ways with its 40-year-old "Live" host in the near future and there is no need to find a replacement for King, 74.

"Larry is the best there is; he will be here for a long time," the unidentified spokeswoman told the Daily News.
