NEW YORK, April 9 (UPI) -- A New York judge has ordered the Catholic priest accused of stalking Conan O'Brien to stay away from the talk-show host for two years.
The Rev. David Ajemian, a 48-year-old priest from Boston, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct Tuesday.
In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop the initial, more serious charges of aggravated harassment and stalking, allowing Ajemian to avoid trial and potential jail time.
"I regret my behavior that caused concern to the people that I was trying to contact," the New York Daily News quoted Ajemian as saying outside Manhattan Criminal Court. "I recognize that what I did was disorderly."
The priest admitted in court that he sent letters, postcards and packages to O'Brien's home, to his parents and to the studio where he tapes his show, the Daily News said.
