LONDON, April 4 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage has won a libel lawsuit against his one-time co-star Kathleen Turner and Britain's Daily Mail newspaper in London's high court.

Cage and Turner played lovers in the 1986 romantic comedy "Peggy Sue Got Married."

The lawsuit stemmed from allegations Turner made in her memoir, "Send Yourself Roses," claiming Cage was arrested twice for drunken driving and stole a dog.

The Daily Mail repeated the claims in an article called "Why I detest Burt Reynolds and Nicolas Cage by Kathleen Turner," the Guardian newspaper said.

As part of Friday's court decision, the Mail has agreed to publish an apology and remove the story from its Web site.

A printed correction will be inserted into copies of Turner's book, as well, the Guardian said.

The defendants were also ordered to pay all of Cage's legal expenses and to make a "substantial donation" to his preferred charity, the National Adult Protective Services Foundation.

"Through me the defendants sincerely apologize to the claimant for the distress and embarrassment the book and published extracts have caused.," Jane Phillips, a lawyer acting on behalf of the defendants, told the court. "They accept that the allegations are false and ought never to have been published."
