Radio's Randi Rhodes suspended for remarks

NEW YORK, April 3 (UPI) -- Air America has suspended radio talk show host Randi Rhodes for making "abusive" remarks about Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro, the U.S. network said.

Rhodes -- speaking at a recent sold-out appearance on behalf of the liberal talk radio network and Clear Channel station KKGN-San Francisco -- referred to each of the women as a "f---ing whore," radioandrecords.com reported Thursday.

Air America Chairman Charlie Kireker announced the suspension in a statement issued Thursday.

"Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs, but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our hosts," said Kireker.

KKGN Program Director John Scott told radioandrecords.com this was Rhodes's first time in the market and "probably the biggest event the station has ever done."
