CLEVELAND, April 1 (UPI) -- R&B singer Sean Levert was physically restrained by guards at the Cuyahoga County Jail in Ohio shortly before his death, jail staff said.
Jail personnel said Levert was "out of control" and "hallucinating" shortly before he went to the hospital Sunday, so they placed him in a restraining chair to prevent him from harming himself, the entertainment news Web site TMZ.com reported the Tuesday.
The Cuyahoga County Coroner told TMZ.com Levert's corpse displayed no evidence of physical trauma. The coroner's office also said it does not suspect foul play.
A cause of death will not be determined until toxicology results come back in about four to six weeks.
"There is no song that can capture the loss that we have in our hearts," Levert's family said in a statement.
The former member of the R&B trio LeVert was serving a sentence in the Cleveland jail for failing to pay child support when he fell ill and was transported to a hospital where he died Sunday night at the age of 39.
Levert, who appeared in the film "New Jack City," was the son of O'Jays singer Eddie Levert and was the brother of late R&B icon Gerald Levert.
