Lohan's dad not happy about 'Manson' role

LOS ANGELES, March 28 (UPI) -- The father of Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan said he's not exactly delighted his daughter will be playing a devotee of Charles Manson on the big screen.

Lohan, 21, has signed on to co-star in the film "Manson Girls."

"I really hope that Lindsay gets back to the kinds of films that led to her success," Michael Lohan told Usmagazine.com. "I'd like to see her do more mainstream films."

Lindsay Lohan had a string of hits with family-friendly movies like "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls," while her later efforts such as "I Know Who Killed Me" and "Bobby" were less successful at the box office.

Michael Lohan told Usmagazine.com he thought his daughter's more recent films "were geared to a specific audience."

"When you're the kind of star Lindsay is, you have to appeal to a general audience, not just a specific audience," he said.

Lindsay Lohan will next be seen in "Chapter 27," a drama about the man who killed singer John Lennon.
