LOS ANGELES, March 28 (UPI) -- U.S. pop singer J.C. Chasez said he is annoyed by media speculation that he and actor Chace Crawford are romantically involved.

"You know what, it's laughable the first time," Chasez told People magazine. "I think the 10th time, it gets annoying."

Chasez is best known for his work with the boy band 'NSYNC. He also dated actress Eva Longoria at one point.

Crawford, who broke up with country singer Carrie Underwood this week, stars on the TV show "Gossip Girl."

"I don't care about (people's) assumptions or anything, but when people outright lie, that's wrong," Chasez said. "So I think that part of the rumor is outright stupid. ... The fact of the matter is I'm a straight guy and I'm allowed to have (guy) friends."
