OVERLEA, Md., March 24 (UPI) -- Christopher J. Clanton, an actor who had a recurring role on the TV drama "The Wire," is listed in good condition after he was stabbed at a party in Maryland.

The 22-year-old actor played Savino Bratton until his character was killed off in the last season of the show.

The Baltimore Sun said Clanton was stabbed in the chest and buttocks when a brawl broke out early Sunday at the Overlea Caterers Inc., social hall in Overlea, Md..

"Mayhem broke out," Clanton told the Sun by phone Monday. "I was trying to get out of the way. I wanted to get past one of the guys that was involved. ... It escalated from there."

A county police spokesman said Clanton was the only person who reported being injured during the melee.

Clanton was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center by ambulance where he was treated for his wounds.

He was expected to be released early this week, the report said.
