BURBANK, Calif., March 24 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Kelly Preston is to guest star on the supernatural TV drama "Medium" in a four-episode arc starting next month, NBC announced Monday.

Her first appearance opposite Patricia Arquette, who plays research medium Allison, and Jake Weber, who plays her supportive husband Joe, will be in the April 14 episode. Preston will play a woman interested in becoming business partners with Joe.

"We're thrilled to have Kelly join us for the final episodes of Season 4," Executive Producer Glenn Gordon Caron said in a statement. "For the role of Meghan Doyle, a venture capitalist who decides to underwrite Joe, we needed an actress who exuded both intelligence and sexuality. Someone who could stand toe-to-toe with Patricia and Jake, and credibly create chaos in a household and a marriage that is as strong as any on television."

Preston, who is married to movie star John Travolta, has appeared in the films "Jerry McGuire," "The Cat in the Hat," "For Love of the Game," "Death Sentence" and "What a Girl Wants."
