MAJORCA, Spain, March 17 (UPI) -- Ola Brunkert, the former drummer for the Swedish pop group ABBA, has died in what is believed to be a freak accident on the Spanish island Majorca.
Brunkert, 62, who was the only member to travel on all of ABBA's tours and who also played on all of the band's albums, was discovered dead by a neighbor in his garden Sunday night, the Daily Mail reported Monday.
Investigators say they believe he smashed through a glass door in his kitchen and cut his throat, the newspaper said.
"All the indications are that this was a tragic accident," a representative at the Civil Guard's headquarters in Madrid told the Mail. "A glass door in the kitchen of the house was shattered and it appears that this man fell through the door. He then managed to get out into the garden where he died."
Brunkert is believed to have been alone at the time and there were no signs to indicate there had been any intruders, the spokeswoman added.
"The investigation is still continuing and the results of an autopsy will be required to confirm that the victim died as a result of the cut he received," she told the Mail.
