LONDON, March 15 (UPI) -- The personality of Britain's Prince Charles has ruined a tropical vacation for Camilla, duchess of Cornwall, a source close to the royal couple says.
The anonymous source said while the royal couple spent eight days traveling between tropical locales on a luxurious yacht, Charles proved to be nearly unbearable company in such tight quarters, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.
"He's difficult enough to live with when they can disappear into their own space at home," the source said, "but at sea it's been a nightmare."
One of the aides to the heir to the British throne confirmed that report, saying the prince's mood has declined as of late.
"He's worse than ever," the unidentified aide said. "He complains about everything, rails against modern life and is impossible to please. The duchess used to be able to make him snap out of it, but she doesn't seem to be able to do that any more."
The British newspaper said Charles' mood appeared to have begun to worsen in January when he officially became the longest serving heir to the British throne in history.
