African American museum to honor Jones

80th Annual Academy Awards held in Hollywood

SEATTLE, March 14 (UPI) -- The Northwest African American Museum announced its grand opening week will conclude with an event honoring Quincy Jones at the Seattle Paramount Theatre.

Jones is a famed record, TV and film producer, composer, conductor, instrumentalist and Seattle native.

He is to be awarded the NAAM Board of Directors' first Lifetime Achievement Award at a concert Sunday featuring performances by Carlos Santana, James Ingram, Ernestine Anderson, Siedah Garrett, Clarence Acox & the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra featuring jazz great Buddy Catlett, Steve Connell and Sekou, Laura "Piece" Kelley-Jahn, Ruby Bishop, and Juan Huey Ray and Sound of the Northwest.
