LONDON, March 10 (UPI) -- U.S. singer Lisa Marie Presley, who is pregnant with her third child, reportedly is suing Britain's Daily Mail over a story it ran criticizing her weight.

Presley, who is the daughter of music great Elvis Presley, announced she is suing the newspaper for an article it published claiming her recent weight gain was due to overeating and stating she was "growing like her dad," NME.com reported.

The Daily Mail story was picked up by several other media outlets.

Presley last week said she felt forced to reveal she was pregnant before she was ready because she had to address the story.

"After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant," Presley wrote on her MySpace page. "How (the media) have handled themselves with this has been nothing short of irresponsible and disgusting."
