Julie Andrews was result of mom's affair

NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- Beloved British actress Julie Andrews has revealed her biological father is not the man her mother was married to at the time she was born.

The star of "Mary Poppins" and "The Sound of Music" discloses in her upcoming autobiography that she was conceived during an affair her mother Barbara had while still married to teacher Ted Wells, the New York Daily News said Monday.

Barbara divorced Wells when Andrews was 4 and married Canadian entertainer Ted Andrews.

In the book, Andrews, now 72, recalls how her mother took her to meet her biological father when she was 14, the Daily News said.

However, the iconic actress said she has always regarded Wells as her father in her heart.
