Stars line up for Essence Music Fest

NEW YORK, March 7 (UPI) -- Kanye West, Chris Rock, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott and Morris Day and The Time are set to headline the 2008 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.

The celebration of black music and culture is to take place July 4-6, organizers said.

"This past year has been amazing for these talented performers and our audience will be thrilled to welcome them home for the ultimate Fourth of July weekend party," Michelle Ebanks, the president of Essence Communications Inc., said in a statement.
