LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- Actress Bai Ling pleaded guilty Wednesday to disturbing the peace in connection with an alleged shoplifting incident at Los Angeles International Airport.

The Chinese-American starlet was ordered to pay a $200 fine, plus additional unspecified penalties adding up to about $700, Los Angeles City Attorney's Office spokesman Frank Mateljan told E! News.

She was originally charged with petty theft, but her attorney bargained with prosecutors, possibly due to immigration regulations, to change the charge to disturbing the peace, E! Online said.

Ling, who starred in "The Crow" and "Anna and the King," was arrested at the airport Feb. 13 after she allegedly attempted to leave a shop with two magazines and a pack of batteries -- totaling $16.22 -- for which she did not pay.

"What happened was an innocent mistake on my part and I am confident that the truth will be told since I never had any intention of taking items without paying for them," Ling wrote on her blog. "I appreciate the support of the public and especially my friends and my fans. Thank you!"
