LOS ANGELES, March 5 (UPI) -- U.S. film stars Joan Cusack and John Goodman have signed on to play Isla Fisher's parents in the film adaptation of the novel "Confessions of a Shopaholic."

Hugh Dancy and Krysten Ritter are also set to co-star in the movie version of Sophie Kinsella's book, Variety.com said Wednesday.

To be directed by P.J. Hogan and shot in New York and Connecticut, the film follows a young woman as she struggles to navigate her way through the Manhattan magazine world, the trade paper said.

Hogan's previous films include "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Muriel's Wedding."

Cusack has starred in "Say Anything," "Working Girl" and "Martian Child," while Goodman is best known for playing the patriarch on the TV sit-com "Roseanne."

Fisher has acted in "Definitely, Maybe" and "The Lookout."
