Clinton, Giuliani appear on 'SNL'

NEW YORK, March 3 (UPI) -- U.S. presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton and her former rival Rudy Giuliani appeared on "Saturday Night Live" during the weekend.

Clinton, a U.S. senator from New York, delivered an "editorial response" to an "SNL" parody of a recent Democratic debate. 'SNL" cast member Amy Poehler reprised her impression of Clinton in the sketch.

"The scene you just saw was a dramatization of last Tuesday's debate and not an endorsement of one candidate over another. I can say this confidently, because when I asked if I could take it as an endorsement, I was told, 'Absolutely not.' But I still enjoyed the sketch a great deal. I simply adore Amy's impression of me," Clinton said.

Appearing in the show's "Weekend Update" segment, Giuliani reiterated his endorsement of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for the Republican nomination, and then told "SNL" player Seth Meyers he thinks his own presidential campaign collapsed because he wore a dress on the show more than a decade ago.

"I really wish I could have taken that back," Giuliani confided. "You hit the campaign trail and you talk about the economy and national security and you can just feel people in the crowd thinking: 'I know that guy. That's the guy who wore the dress.'"
