NEW YORK, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A federal judge in Manhattan ruled the family of a Texas prosecutor, who killed himself after a "Dateline" ambush, can proceed with its lawsuit against NBC.

The family of Louis "Bill" Conradt blames the television network for Conradt's 2006 suicide because it involved him in an underage-sex sting for the "To Catch a Predator" segment of "Dateline," the New York Post said Wednesday.

Conradt shot himself in the head moments after police came into his home in a sting initiated by "Dateline."

Conradt's relatives are now suing NBC for $105 million, accusing the network of the intentional infliction of emotional distress and civil rights violations, the Post said

An NBC spokeswoman told the newspaper, "We think the evidence will ultimately show

that 'Dateline' acted responsibly and lawfully."
