'John Adams' miniseries to premiere in Va.

RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- HBO announced Wednesday it is planning to premiere its historical miniseries "John Adams" at the Byrd Theatre in Richmond, Va.

The cable television network and Comcast have partnered with the Virginia Film Office to arrange the March 9 invitation-only premiere.

Expected to attend are executive producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman; historian and "John Adams" biographer David McCullough; director Tom Hooper and Gov. Timothy M. Kaine.

The miniseries, which was shot on location in Virginia and various sites in Europe, is the largest film project in the history of the state of Virginia. It is estimated to have pumped $80million into Virginia's economy, HBO said.

The first installments of the seven-part HBO Films miniseries are scheduled to debut back-to-back March 10, with other episodes airing on subsequent Sundays through April 20.

Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney star as John and Abigail Adams, while Stephen Dillane plays Thomas Jefferson, Tom Wilkinson plays Benjamin Franklin, Danny Huston plays Samuel Adams, David Morse plays George Washington, Sarah Polley plays Nabby Adams, Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays John Quincy Adams, Rufus Sewell plays Alexander Hamilton and Justin Theroux plays John Hancock.
