NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Kathleen Turner said she's sorry her new autobiography, in which she dishes about some of her leading men, has caused Nicolas Cage discomfort.

Cage has begun libel proceedings against Turner -- his co-star from the 1986 romantic comedy "Peggy Sue Got Married" -- in a London court, stating she lied about him in her new book "Send Yourself Roses."

"He caused so many problems. He was arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, once for stealing a dog. He'd come across a Chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket," Turner wrote in the book, Usmagazine.com reported.

Cage refuted the claims in a statement last month.

"I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog," he said.

While on the TV chat show "The View" Thursday to promote her book, Turner was asked about Cage's reaction to what she wrote.

"I'm very sorry to have caused him any discomfort," Turner said. "It was over 20-some years ago, so it certainly wasn't my intention to harm and I think that's all I'm supposed to say about it."
