McCormack headlines new USA series

NEW YORK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- The USA Network has announced it is set to air a new drama about a female U.S. Marshal who looks out for people in the federal witness protection program.

"In Plain Sight" is slated to premiere April 24, said Jeff Wachtel, USA Network's executive vice president of original programming.

Shot on location in and around Albuquerque, the series will kick off with a 90-minute installment, followed by 11 one-hour episodes.

The show stars Mary McCormack as Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal working in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program who relocates federal witnesses -- some who are career criminals, others who are innocents unfortunate enough to have witnessed a crime.

"In Mary Shannon, (show creator) David Maples has created a strong, relatable character who fits perfectly into the ever-expanding USA roster of female leads," Wachtel said in a statement. "And Mary McCormack is not only a genuine star, but also an absolute joy to work with."

"In Plain Sight" also stars Frederick Weller, Lesley Ann Warren, Nichole Hiltz, Paul Ben-Victor, Cristian de la Fuente and Todd Williams.
