LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- U.S. singer Aretha Franklin reportedly is peeved Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as "the queen" when she introduced Turner at the Grammy Awards Sunday.

Franklin has long been known as the "Queen of Soul" and apparently was not happy to hear her honorary title applied to another performer at the Grammy Awards show in Los Angeles Sunday night.

"I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy. In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyonce anyway," Franklin said in a statement issued to People.com.

Beyonce and Turner brought down the house with their duet of Turner's signature song "Proud Mary."
