LONDON, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage is suing his "Peggy Sue Got Married" co-star in London for allegedly lying about him in her new autobiography.
Turner said in her book "Send Yourself Roses" that Cage was impossible on the set of their 1986 romantic comedy, which was directed by Cage's uncle, Francis Ford Coppola.
"He caused so many problems. He was arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, once for stealing a dog. He'd come across a chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket," Turner wrote in the book, according to Usmagazine.com.
However, Cage refuted the claims last month, issuing a statement that said, "I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog."
A spokesman for London's High Court said a "defamation, libel and slander" case had been filed, but Turner has not yet responded to the case, the BBC reported.
Cage's representative in Los Angeles told the Daily Telegraph the suit was in response to "false allegations that appear in a forthcoming autobiography."
"If he doesn't get a retraction, he intends to go full speed ahead with litigation in the U.S.," Cage's attorney told the New York Daily News.
