'Shrek the Musical' headed for B'way

NEW YORK, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- "Shrek the Musical," starring Sutton Foster, Christopher Sieber and Kecia Lewis-Evans, is set to open on New York's Broadway Dec. 14.

Representatives for the show said Monday preview performances are scheduled to begin Nov. 8, following a pre-Broadway run at Seattle's The 5th Avenue Theatre from Aug. 14 through Sept. 21.

Foster, currently starring as Inga in Broadway's "Young Frankenstein," will play Princess Fiona, while "Spamalot" star Sieber will play Lord Farquaad and Lewis-Evans will play the Dragon. Lewis-Evans was most recently seen in "The Drowsy Chaperone."

Additional casting, including the titlular ogre and his loyal friend Donkey, are expected to be announced soon.
