Winehouse wins best new artist Grammy

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- British singer Amy Winehouse was named Best New Artist at the 50th Grammy Awards telecast in Los Angeles Sunday.

Winehouse was not at the event to collect her prize but was expected to perform later in the evening by satellite from London.

The singer won prizes for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her hit, "Rehab," and Best Pop Vocal Album for "Back to Black" in a pre-telecast ceremony.

She was nominated for a total of six awards.
