LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- "Grey's Anatomy" star James T. Pickens has downplayed a recent visit to a Los Angeles psychiatric ward by co-star Justin Chambers.

Pickens, who plays Dr. Richard Webber on the hit ABC series, said his "Grey's" co-star simply needed rest and decided to stay at the medical center at the University of California, Los Angeles, People magazine reported Saturday.

"(Justin) just needed a break," Pickens said following a recent conversation with his co-star. "He said, 'Man I'm fine.'"

A representative for Chambers, who plays Dr. Alex Karev on the popular medical drama, told People the psych ward visit was due to exhaustion and a sleeping disorder.

Actress Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey on "Grey's," echoed Pickens' comments Saturday, assuring fans of the show that Pickens was doing fine.

"Everybody goes through stuff. It's no different than anybody else in the world. We just happen to be in the public eye," she said. "Justin's doing just fine."
