Successful Doherty struggling financially

LONDON, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Pete Doherty may have had six Top 10 hits in the past, but more recent financial figures reportedly show the British rocker made only $57,000 in the last year.

The singer, who had great success with the rock bands Babyshambles and The Libertines, made less than $57,000 in profits during the last year based on his financial accounts, the Daily Mirror reported Saturday.

Sources said the low profits were blamed on expensive crew costs and poor ticket sales related to Babyshambles performances, along with lukewarm reviews of the band's musical efforts.

One source told the Mirror the rocker's financial situation is so dire he reneged on a deal to rent out part of London's Acton Sports Club for a music video shoot.

"The grounds man agreed to close the facilities to the public for the day to allow Pete and his band access all areas without being harassed by fans," the source said.

"But at the last minute Pete told the club that the ($584) fee was too expensive and the whole idea had to be scrapped."
