Shatner: 'Star Trek?' Never watched it

LONDON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Canadian-born "Star Trek" star William Shatner said he "never watched" his own iconic sci-fi series, nor the several big-screen incarnations it spawned.

Shatner, 76, now headlines the TV series "Boston Legal." For the record, he said he hasn't seen that one either.

The Telegraph quoted the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor as saying in an interview for his Internet video blog, "I never watched Star Trek."

"I have not even seen any of the 'Star Trek' movies," he said. "I don't watch myself. When I direct and have to look at filmed scenes of myself, I suck."

Shatner also said he didn't keep any souvenirs from the "Star Trek" productions.

"I've kept nothing. Given the choice at the time of having a 'Star Trek' shirt or a designer suit, I'd have taken a suit. I should have known better," he said.
