LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- British actor Dominic Monaghan, whose character was killed off in the third-season finale of "Lost," has signed on to star in the psychological thriller "Pet."

In the film, which is expected to start shooting in the next few months, Monaghan will play a guy who becomes obsessed with an old flame and holds her against her will underneath the animal shelter where he works, The Hollywood Reporter said.

In addition to playing Charlie on the hit TV series "Lost," the German-born Monaghan also starred in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
