LONDON, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- British TV chef Nigella Lawson has denied reports she intends to leave her children out of her will to help teach them a life lesson.
The 48-year-old TV personality and her husband, art collector Charles Saatchi, have amassed a fortune of more than $216 million, but in a recent magazine interview Lawson indicated her two children would be better off with much less, The Daily Mail said Saturday.
"I am determined that my children should have no financial security. It ruins people not having to earn money," the celebrity chef told My Weekly magazine.
Lawson, who previously hosted the Channel 4 program "Nigella Bites," has issued a statement clarifying her remark.
"Of course I have no intention of leaving my children destitute and starving," she said. "Rather, this is a story that came from a comment I made about my belief that you have to work in order to learn the value of money."
