Neil Diamond to perform in Glastonbury

GLASTONBURY , England, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- The organizer of England's Glastonbury Festival announced that U.S. singer Neil Diamond is scheduled to perform at this summer's event.

Festival spokesman Michael Eavis, 72, told the BBC, "Neil Diamond is for people closer to my age."

Best known for his songs "Sweet Caroline" and "Cracklin' Rosie," Diamond, 67, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1984.

The Glastonbury Festival, a renowned celebration of music and the performing arts, is scheduled to run June 27-29.
