LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Lisa Kudrow has signed on to play the mother of a character portrayed by Liam Aiken in "Will," a new coming-of-age film.

Kudrow is best-known for her work on TV's "Mad About You" and "Friends," and in the films "P.S., I Love You" and "Hanging Up."

Aiken, 18, has starred in the movies "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," "I Dreamed of Africa" and "Stepmom."

British rock icon David Bowie is in negotiations to take on a role in the dramedy "Will," which stars Vanessa Hudgens, Aly Michalka and Scott Porter, Variety.com reported Friday.

The high school-set film was written by Josh Cagan and Todd Graff.

Graff is planning to direct it, the trade paper said.
