LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Britney Spears' father, Jamie, has reportedly been granted temporary legal control of the troubled U.S. pop star.
The decision was made in an emergency court hearing in Los Angeles Friday, People.com reported.
Britney Spears, 26, was admitted to UCLA Medical Center's psychiatric unit early Thursday morning.
Commissioner Reva Goetz said she believed Jamie Spears was a "suitable and qualified person" and would act in the singer's best interest, People.com said.
He has the power to restrict and limit visitors to his daughter, employ security guards to protect her, gain access to her medical records and talk to her doctors.
Goetz also gave Jamie Spears temporary control of his daughter's finances and permission to secure her home, change its locks and throw out any people living there.
Court representative Allan Parachini confirmed "there was a civil harassment restraining order issued against Sam Lutfi, but the specifics of that order are unknown."
Lufti, who is sometimes described in media reports as Britney Spears' manager, is constantly at her side. He has reportedly been fighting with the singer's family about what is best for her.
