NEW YORK, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A Manhattan judge has rejected U.S. rapper Foxy Brown's plea to leave jail early so she can see a specialist in Los Angeles about her hearing aid.
The rapper said in court papers she is deaf without the aid of her cochlear implant, which was reportedly damaged when she was hit by a fellow inmate.
However, the New York Post said Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson decided not to grant the recording artist the early release because Brown failed to provide medical proof to back up her claims.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is expected to remain in jail until April 20 and arrange treatment for her medical issues through the New York City departments of Correction and Health, the Post said.
Marchand has been in jail for the past five months for assaulting two Manhattan manicurists in an argument regarding payment for services rendered.
