NEW YORK, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- People were predicting Canadian actress Ellen Page would get an Oscar nomination even before her big-screen comedy "Juno" opened in theaters.

"I try not to think about it," Page told reporters in New York while she was promoting the film several weeks ago.

"To be honest, when I first read the script, Diablo (Cody) wrote something so amazing, I became relatively obsessed with playing this role, so when I got to do it, I was through-the-moon ecstatic and working with the people I got to work with was an enormous gift," the 20-year-old actress explained. "To do this film in the first place was so amazing in itself and now that all this is happening, it's just extremely surreal. So, I'm just kind of like, 'Well, we'll see what happens.'

"I've seen 'For Your Consideration,'" Page quipped, referring to the comedy about actors who get carried away about the Oscar "buzz" their film is creating, then are crushed when things don't pan out.

Page was nominated Tuesday for a best actress Academy Award for her portrayal of a sassy pregnant teen in "Juno," which was directed by Jason Reitman and co-stars Jennifer Garner, Michael Cera, Jason Bateman, Allison Janney and J.K Simmons.

Also nominated for the best actress honor, along with Page, are Cate Blanchett for "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," Julie Christie for "Away from Her," Marion Cotillard for "La Vie en Rose" and Laura Linney for "The Savages."
