ATLANTA, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The father of U.S. R&B singer Usher has died, it was reported Monday.

A representative for the recording artist confirmed his father, Usher Raymond III, passed away at an Atlanta hospital Friday, "Access Hollywood" reported.

The cause of death was not immediately known, the report said.

Atlanta's WSBTV.com said the funeral will be held Wednesday at the Taylor Funeral Home chapel.

The recording artist has not issued a statement regarding his father's death.

The singer's wife, Tameka, gave birth to Usher Raymond V in November.
