Funeral for actor Brad Renfro set

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A funeral service for Hollywood actor Brad Renfro is set to take place in his hometown of Knoxville, Tenn.

The service is scheduled for Monday night and the star of "Apt Pupil" and "Sleepers" will be buried Tuesday at noon, Usmagazine.com reported.

Renfro, who had battled drug and alcohol addiction for years, died last week at the age of 25.

The cause of his death was not immediately determined and an autopsy was conducted Thursday, however, toxicology test results are not expected to be announced for several weeks.

"He was a hometown boy who did real good, and it breaks my heart he is gone," Johnny Knoxville, Renfro's co-star in the 2002 film "Deuces Wild" told "The Insider." "He was so young and so sweet."

Susan Sarandon, who starred with Renfro in the 1994 big-screen drama, "The Client," also had kind words.

"I had the pleasure of working with Brad when he was 11," Sarandon told People.com. "It was obvious to everyone that he was the sweetest, most incredibly gifted young actor to come along for some time. My heart goes out to the family for their tragic loss."


'I Know Who' racks up nine Razzie nods

HOLLYWOOD , Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Lindsay Lohan's "I Know Who Killed Me" was the Hollywood movie to earn the most 2007 Golden Raspberry Award nominations when they were announced Monday.

The movie was nominated for nine "awards," including nods for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, Worst Director and Worst Screen Couple for Lohan appearing opposite herself, organizers of the prize presentation said.

The film also earned Lohan the first double Worst Actress nod since she is individually listed for each of the two characters she portrayed in the film.

Eddie Murphy's "Norbit" and Adam Sandler's "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" each racked up eight nods.

Murphy also set a Razzie record by racking up five nominations by himself for the various characters he played in "Norbit" and for co-writing the screenplay.

"I Know Who Killed Me," "Norbit" and "Chuck & Larry" will compete with "Bratz" and "Daddy Day Camp" for the Worst Picture distinction.

Winners of the 28th Annual Razzie Awards are to be announced Feb. 23, the day before the Oscars are to be handed out.


Kiefer Sutherland released from jail

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland has been released from jail after serving 48 days following his second drunken driving conviction, TMZ.com reported Monday.

Sutherland, who stars on the TV drama "24," was greeted by the media as he left California's Glendale City Jail just after midnight Sunday, the report said.

The 41-year-old actor served his entire sentence for a second driving under the influence charge and violating probation.


Light saber tops list of fave film weapons

LONDON, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The light saber featured in Hollywood's six "Star Wars" epics has been voted best film weapon in a survey commissioned by 20th Century Fox.

The poll asked the opinions of 2,000 film fans, the Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

Coming in second place was the trademark .44 Magnum used by character Dirty Harry in several movies, followed by Indiana Jones' signature bullwhip at No. 3, the samurai sword wielded in "Kill Bill" at No. 4 and the chainsaw from the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier of favorite movie weapons were the golden gun from the James Bond vehicle "The Man With The Golden Gun" at No. 6; the bows and arrows featured in "Robin Hood" at No. 7; the machine gun in "Scarface" at No. 8; the Death Star from "Star Wars" at No. 9 and the bowler hat in "Goldfinger" at No. 10.
