Spears sits for deposition in custody case

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Pop star Britney Spears reportedly sat for a court-ordered deposition in the Los Angeles office of her ex-husband's lawyer Monday.

Spears spent more than two hours at the office of Vincent Kaplan" class="tpstyle">Mark Vincent Kaplan, the attorney representing Kevin Federline in his custody battle with Spears over their two young children, People.com reported.

The singer previously missed numerous appointments for the deposition, during which she was expected to answer questions about her past drug and alcohol use, her apparent failure to follow court orders and other matters regarding her parenting skills, the magazine said.

Spears was hospitalized this month for a psychological evaluation after police were called to her home because she refused to return her two toddler sons to their father at the end of a visit.

Federline was awarded temporary sole physical and legal custody of the children and Spears was stripped of her visitation rights shortly after the incident.

The court official overseeing the custody case opted not to reinstate her visitation rights after she showed up for a hearing last Monday, then left without entering the courthouse, People.com said.

A custody trial is set for April.
