PARK CITY, Utah, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The four members of U2 were on hand this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah as the Irish rock group premiered its new 3-D concert film.
USA Today reported Sunday that "U2 3D" premiered at a high school auditorium in Park City, Utah, and the four rockers were there to see firsthand how their new concert footage would fare among the cinematic crowd.
Lead singer Bono said the auditorium was the ideal place to premiere the band's film, which featured footage from U2's 2006 Vertigo tour.
"We are a high school band, after all," Bono said at Saturday's premiere.
Former Vice President Al Gore was among the recognizable names on hand, as were actress Elisabeth Shue and Sundance Film Festival Founder Robert Redford.
USA Today said that after the movie aired, Bono said it offered more than simple entertainment to the viewer.
"But underneath there is a narrative operating, and I think it runs through social activism," he said, "it moves through the ideas that fired up our engines over the years, taking some of those ideas about non-violence and human rights,"
