LONDON, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- British pop singer Lily Allen, who was expecting her first child with rocker Ed Simons, has reportedly suffered a miscarriage.
"She and her partner Ed Simons will be making no further comment," Allen's representative told People.com in confirming the news first reported in Britain's Sun newspaper. "And we ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time."
The 22-year-old singer confirmed her pregnancy last month. Her representative said at the time the couple were thrilled at the idea of becoming parents.
Allen gained fame after she posted her music on MySpace and developed a following. She also recently was signed on to perform in her own TV show for BBC3.
Simons, 37, is half of the electronic music duo Chemical Brothers.
