Girl born to Richie, Madden

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Reality TV star Nicole Richie and rocker Joel Madden are enjoying their new daughter.

Richie gave birth Friday at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A representative for the celebrity couple told People magazine exclusively the newborn was doing well and both parents were excited about the addition to their family.

"The beautiful healthy baby girl left the hospital with her ecstatic parents," the unidentified representative said.

The 26-year-old star of the canceled TV series "The Simple Life" had previously said her pregnancy helped her realize her immature attitude toward life and make some major changes.

"When I found out that I was pregnant, there was just something inside of me that felt a responsibility to mend any issues that I've had with my parents in the past, because, listen, I've put them through a lot," Richie said last July.
