LONDON, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- British actor Sean Bean canceled what would have been his fourth wedding with a series of last-minute phone calls.

The Mail on Sunday said the "GoldenEye" actor had plans to marry actress Georgina Sutcliffe at a ceremony this month at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall, but called it off because of "personal issues."

One unidentified individual who had traveled to London to attend the wedding said the cancellation stunned everyone.

"It has come as a huge shock to everyone," the guest said. "We were told the wedding was off at the last minute and that it was because of personal reasons."

Despite the rather turbulent nature of the 48-year-old actor's relationship with his 29-year-old girlfriend, the actress' mother hinted the couple would be going ahead with their wedding plans in the future.

"They are not married yet but it is going ahead and obviously I shall be going," Amanda Sutcliffe told the British newspaper. "I can't say any more."
