LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Johnny Grant, the honorary mayor of Hollywood, has died of natural causes at his home at the age of 84.
Grant, who was also a radio personality and television producer, was found dead early Wednesday night in his bed at the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard, CNN said Thursday.
He reported feeling "lousy" when he last talked to Jim Harper, who managed Grant's career for 60 years, on Wednesday afternoon.
Grant was chairman of the committee that picked celebrities for the Hollywood Walk of Fame, CNN said.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said it will Thursday place flowers on Grant's star in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
"There is only one Johnny Grant, and there will never be another like him," Chamber of Commerce President Leron Gubler said in a statement. "Johnny has been Hollywood's cheerleader through thick and thin. He loved this community like no other. For more than 25 years, he has been at the center of everything good that has happened here. He will be missed."
