
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Gwen Stefani and Justin Timberlake were named favorite female and male singer on the People's Choice Awards special that aired on U.S. television Tuesday.
Rascal Flatts won the prize for favorite group, while Daughtry's "Home" was named favorite rock song and Rihanna's "Shut up and Drive" won the award for favorite R&B song.
"Stand" by Rascal Flatts was declared favorite country song, "Give It to Me" by Timbaland, featuring Timberlake and Nelly Furtado was named favorite hip-hop song and Timberlake's "What Goes Around... Comes Around" won the award for favorite pop song.
Queen Latifah, host of the new People's Choice newsmagazine format, seemed elated when she read off the nominees in the favorite-song-from-a-soundtrack category and then got to announce the winner was "You Can't Stop the Beat" from "Hairspray," a movie musical in which she has a starring role.
An estimated 10 million fans helped pick the People's Choice winners.
