People love 'Grey's Anatomy' stars

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Katherine Heigl and Patrick Dempsey have won People's Choice Awards for their work on the U.S. TV drama "Grey's Anatomy."

They were named favorite female and male TV star, respectively.

"This is unbelievable," Heigl said in a taped acceptance speech featured in the newsmagazine-style People's Choice awards show. "Thank you so much. It's such an honor and thank you to every single one of you who watch the show and enjoy it and appreciate the work. It means so much to me. I spent a lot of years in this town with nobody caring about what I do, so it means so much to me when you do."

"House" won the prize for favorite TV drama, while "Two and a Half Men" picked up the award for favorite comedy series.

"Moonlight" was declared the people's favorite new TV drama and "Samantha Who?" was named favorite new comedy.

"The Simpsons" won the prize for favorite animated TV series, while "Deal or No Deal" earned the crystal statuette for favorite game show and "Dancing with the Stars" was named favorite competition reality show.

Ellen DeGeneres won the awards for favorite talk-show host and funniest female star.
