Brown stuck with Houston's divorce terms

SANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 5 (UPI) -- A judge in California has rejected singer Bobby Brown's attempt to overturn the divorce terms laid out by his ex-wife, pop singer Whitney Houston.

Carole Levitsky, a spokeswoman for the Orange County court, said that on Friday the "My Prerogative" singer's legal attempt to overturn Houston's divorce terms was rejected by the presiding judge in their case, People magazine reported.

"His motion was denied because there were no appearances or phone calls from Mr. Brown today for a scheduled hearing," Levitsky said. "As of now, there are no more pending court dates in this case."

Houston earned a key decision in the ongoing divorce case in April when the "I Will Always Love You" singer was awarded custody of the couple's 14-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. That default judgment left Brown with only visitation rights to his child and no financial awards, People said.

Brown sued Houston a month after that ruling, alleging he was tricked into not taking appropriate action in the divorce proceedings.
