NEW YORK, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- New York-area members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have been invited to celebrate the upcoming 80th Academy Awards at The Carlyle hotel.
"Of the many storied hotels and restaurants in Manhattan, few have a closer connection to Hollywood's heart and soul than The Carlyle hotel and Cafe Carlyle," Bud Rosenthal, chair of the Academy's New York events committee, said in a statement.
The Carlyle has served as a home away from home for countless movie stars, U.S. presidents, royalty and international artists and has been the site of several film productions, the statement noted.
"The Academy's East Coast members will be treated to a memorable Oscar night in a stunning art deco setting," Rosenthal said.
The Academy Awards will be presented Feb. 24 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles and televised live on ABC.
